Tips for a Startup Job

OnStartUps posted a nice article I thought was worth emphasizing, “6 Quick Tips For Landing That Startup Dream Job”.

To paraphrase;

1. “Match The [Dress] Culture”: “Dress as if you’re already on the team.  Any startup you’d want to work for is not going to hold it against you for not dressing up.”
2. “Convey A Passion For Startups”
3. Read their content – Facebook, Twitter, Blogs, etc. from the team
4. “Join The Conversation”
5. “Connect Online” – I agree with this one only in some instances – if a potential candidate tried to “Friend” me on Facebook I’d certainly say no, but Twitter is open territory
6. “Emphasize That You ‘Get Stuff Done’”

The main takeaways are: get involved in advance and discuss how you can make them more money.
